The basic theory here is to prevent the hook set from twisting so it stabilizes the lure tracking and prevents the hook(s) from swinging out of the way at a hard strike..hopefully better hook up ratio's.
Those are rubber not silicone stoppers..blue is our own style..
The zap a gap is for poly products..this is the best binding agent we found. bonds in 20 seconds..removal will tear the stopper..it bonds that well. I don't think you can buy this over the counter not sure...we are a dealer for zap-a-gap..
The tape is a non-adhesive silicone self adhering and sealing..its falls between sticky back tape and shrink tubing..the best we have found. Properties of the "new" product are unbelievable, you could actually make or repair a stiff rigg with this stuff.
The awl is a standard small craftsman for aligning the stopper with the trace hole at the back of the lure head.
Make sure the back of the head surface is flat and level..sand with machine and right angle fence will help.
Hint: when bench or hand crimping before cinching up the leader and tag end..burn the tag end and make "mushroom"..cinch and crimp. Always use chafe tubing..always!
The last picture is the correct way to make a double hook rig..our opinion..shackle can be used to "join" the two hooks at the eye end as well for heavier and larger lures.
hope this was helpful..basic for some of you but perhaps not for all..
