How to sharpen ss hooks like Hays?

I really like the strength of Hays hooks, but compared to 7691s they are not as sharp. How sharp is sharp enough? And I have tried files, braid diamond sharpener, and a Dremel tool, their points are quite thick, which makes them super strong but man that are a bear to sharpen, any suggestions or tips? Or am I trying to get them too sharp?

Every one has different ways to sharpen then its personal preference... I dont use stainless hooks but for the rest of my hooks. I hold the file in my left hand and my hook in my right, with the eye of the hook closest to my wrist so the point is pointed to me and i pull them across the file, and switch hands to do the other side of the hook.

As far as how sharp...as long as the hook can scratch my finger nail then it is sharp enough, Hope this helps you

To sharpen the stainless used in Hayes hooks which the same stainless steel as Pakula Katana hooks you need a slow wet wheel like: http://toolman.com.au/index.php?main...roducts_id=163

or wet linishing machine which are pretty hard to come by.
