How can I fix this rod?

Well I ordered this rod from Cabela's a while back and just now got the reel to mount on it, as I was looking it over I see that three of the guides are cracked. It's almost impossible for me to send it back to Cabela's and think I might just fix the rod.

It's a Quantum Cabo rod and it costs like $200.00 (a lot for me)... I have no experience in this sort of thing, but after I contact Cabela's which I'm sure won't be of much help, the only thing I can do is try to fix the rod myself.

take some fine grit wet sandpaper and strip the epoxy down to the threads, being careful not to weaken the threads. Keep rinse under water.

Next buy some Rod varnish, and make yourself a rod rack out fo an old box. tape off your guides so the varnish looks nice nice and put a few coats.

Hi, thanks... how much of that will I need? Three of the the guides have cracks (the largest three). I did speak to Cabela's and they are offering to replace it, (I only have to get it to them) so I might just do that.
