    Help identifying an old reel

Well, I know it's identity, but I am looking for some info on this reel.

My neighbor is a schoolteacher in the automotive dept. at the local high school. He was cleaning out the shop and found this old reel, which he says has never been used and never will be used (except now he gave it to me ). It is in mint condition and he claims over 30 years old. It is a Heddon model 260-R. I was wondering if anyone had/has one of the these reels.
    Are they good quality?
Can anyone tell me the years this model reel was in production?
What do all the numbers mean in the next to last pic?

    Thanks in advance,
    Fintan

Here are a few pics that might help a little bit:

I'm sure if you email the company, they can give you info on your reel.

    yup, I had one too
at age 8 or 9, my first reel was a Heddon 260 and a St Croix rod, worked great
I have no clue where they are today
