    HARNELL Rods

I've got 2 identical blanks that I know nothing about.
Can any one tell me what color thread or what kind of guides were on these when original?

I'm trying to keep these as close to original as possible.

I don' teven know the line rating on them?

    HELP!

Can't tell you much about your rods, but we have 2 custom bent butt 130 rods from harnell. My dad got them restored years ago.

Mine look a little heavier then yours. I have another that has the original threading but I can't seem to find it. My brother tried to renovate this one many many years ago so disregard the thread. But they are the orginal guides or at least the guides from when I bought the rods. I bought them from the late Bennett Bozman of Berlin, Md

Thanks for the pics Squid. One of those guides looks like an AFTCO as well as the roller tip. NOt sure what the other is with just the one roller, but none the less, it gives me something to go off of.

    Thanks again.

Here is a picture with the orginal thread

I had to scan an old pic so quality is not that good.

It is an aftco stripper guide as well as the rest of the roller guides.

The roller tip has an inscription of Aftco on one side and Pat. 16 on the other.

    Good Luck

This is my first post on this site so be gentle boys!

I was doing a search today on Harrington and Harnell rods and came across this site and your post.
I have a vintage Harnell blank catalog that lists out all of the blank specs and corresponding model numbers. It might be a good reference to identify your blanks.
I have the catalog in PDF format so I can send it electronically to a personnel email or you can give me your blank specs such as butt diameter, tip size, rod length etc.

Let me know your preference and I'll do my best to help you out.

    T.W.

P.S. - I'll make an introduction post over on the mix it up forum this afternoon and let you all know a bit about me and my passion for Harrington and Harnell rods.

I'm no Harnell expert but the one I have and others i've seen always were a yellow base wrap with either red or green foot wraps. The guides on my rod are very under classed at like 50#'s on a uni-butt so, it may be possible that mine was re-wrapped at some point.
