Thanks Lee. I enjoy keeping some old stuff around. Old Penn Reels(60+) and various Harnell Rods, Montagues, solid fiberglass boat rods adorn my office. I like restoring old things and making them new again.
If you want an expert on these rods contact Doc Ski at Docski377@aol.com he worked with the family to develope thes rods.
Hope this helps
Paul
Nice work. They look good as new.
I started fishing in the San Francisco bay area in the middle 60's and the big Harnell surf rods were the only ones to fish with. They were black with yellow underwraps and bright red thread used to hold the guides on with. They were a product of two men I think in Stockton, Ca., Harrington and Renell. Mr. Renell died several years later and Mr. Harrington bought the co. from his family and named them Harrington blanks. I have a couple and they are really nice rods. I don't know that he is still in business to this date but who knows. I will do some checking and see if they are. I might have an old blank catalog in a box somewhere, if I find it I will post it. Sorry for the late post, but I just joined a couple days ago....Lynn
A valued blank, I re-wrapped my Harnell surf rod 18 years ago and it is the best in my collection. My understanding is that when Mr. Harnell passed away, so did his expertise, want to sell them? Contact Mike at 305-484-7585.
I would take any Harnell or Harrington rod some one has and has no need fot it.
Thanks
Paul
