I have had this rod, a Cal-Star tuna blank 50-80 stand up in the closet for about 5 years now. Just been to lazy to finish it. I decided yesterday to jump on it. I had previously put on the uni-butt coupler and the fore grip, but hadn't wanted to get after the guides as I wanted to do a "negative" of the sister rod this was matching. (Its a gator blank cut to the same length and same guides/placement. I had wanted to do silver under wrap and gold/black chevrons)
I decided instead to just play around with different designs and came up with this, a reverse chevron. (don't know what else to call it...) I started the chevron in one direction, then reversed about 2/3s the way through. It came out pretty good, but some of the gold thread started to unravel as I put tension on it. I will have to seal the thread to see if I can get it stay together. What do ya'll think?
