any pics from the show?
Well, I made it. It was a great time with lots of great people. I was the only builder there and I had a group of people at the table all day long. I showed about a dozen rods of all types. It was a fly fishing group but the interest was with all types of equipment. I will say that there was a lot of interest in building, lots of people had questions on building problems they were having. I have made comitments with several of them to help them over the hump. I took my hand winding set up to the show and went thru show and tell in several procedures. I was located nest to Scott Fly Rods, a local business, who spent most of the day sitting. I had two rods with abalone in the wraps and one with watersnake. The rest were just good thread basic thread work, most with "a" size thread. A lot of them thought that it was tape untill they looked close. I was amazed that most were having trouble getting a smooth, clean finish on there rods. I have to figure out now if I have the time to do a class that they have asked for. I beleive that this would go a long way in moving our love of beautiful fishing rods along. After 30 years of building, I must say that I enjoyed talking with the people and was suprised that I had most of the answers. Makes one feel proud to be a member of this group of people.....Lynn
P.S. Flatliner, I think I need to get some abalone....
