    First marble ,Fire Tangerine

I have a trip comming up with my brothers and a few friends in Cali for some albies and hopefully more. The giveaway is better than cash for the bet. This year I got a Avet sx in orange. So, I had a rod sitting around I never finished so I thought I would try marble wrap. I used car paint metalic tangerine and a light metalic red. I had some opal pearl powder additive I wanted to try also. So the base was the metalic pearlized opal tangerine. The top was metalic red and red/ tang (50/50) mix. But in the mix I put spots of clear for some depth. The reel matches the rod nicely. I also learned in the past ascetone makes laquer run away from it so I cut some 50/50 mix with ascetone and put drops on and it worked! I got grip dimples. Also, because there was alot of metalic and pearl powder there is kind of a gritty grip to the base accent. The base has no but cap it is just wraped hypolon, glued pieces, sanded molded etc you guys know... I showed some pictures to the guys on the trip and they want to just buy it! I dont know if I want to give it up! Kind of like a good accident.
I have made a few rods, and there is one thing I learned about this marble wrap. It sure hides alot of mistakes. Problems with finnish and bubbles arent really problems anymore as well as unpacked or gaps in wraps! I am in!

Yeah thanks to Paul from JPR customs. Thanks for throwing me a bone on how to do this. I see a few more in the future.

Nothing quite as fun as catching a fish on a rod you built. Looking good.

That is one of the greatest feelings using a rod you made. I lived in Southern California my whole life. Moved to Pa to raise the kids. Fly out every other year cause I just have to for the family and the fishing PHIX. I miss going out on the boats from Redondo to San Diego an having fresh fish. Still send rods I made to buddies and brothers & nephews.
