    Daiwa Sealine 27H

    Hi,
I have an old Daiwa Sealine 27H conventional reel. When I open the bail on the reel, the line spools out quietly. However, with the clicker off, when I cast it, it is very noisy and it vibrates under my thumb. Is this normal? If this is not normal, then what seems to be the problem and what can I do to fix it? I've never opened a conventional reel before so I'm adverse to opening it, but am willing to try if I had a manual to look at. Thanks!

It turns out that I just needed to grease the 2 sets of ball bearings. I was able to get a parts diagram from Daiwa by calling their customer service and asking how do I download it. They said to just type 27H in the search box of the diagram charts. Without your link, I bravely had to put my reel back together again. I unscrewed the four set plate screws, unknowingly, committing myself for the long haul! After the last screw was removed and my reel went Boing! (all the parts just fell out), I felt really depressed that I might have just destroyed my reel. It took me a total of 9 hours over 2 days to put it all back together again. I learned a lot from this experience. However, seeing your link for putting back together a Sealine 50H with all its pictures, I'm comforted to know I had assembled my Sealine 27H in a correct and similar fashion too. So, thank you for that!

However, when my reel went boing!, a small spring fell out. It looks similar to the two clutch springs, but is about half the size. I checked and double checked my parts diagram to find out where it goes. I couldn't find it. I concluded that someone must've opened this reel before and had accidentally left it in. I eventually just threw it out. Any suggestions on what it could have been?

glad you got it working! there are only four coil springs in the side plate - one for the freespool lever, one for the anti-reverse dog, and two for the pinion gear yoke. sounds like someone left you a present. alan
