    Color Preserver?

Is it necessary? Never used it, but i notice the thread on some of my older rods is fading. Will preserver prevent that?

Most likely not going to prevent it what you a seeing is from UV exposure and/or yellowing of the finish used on them. Some metalics really fade in a short time frame ice blue and purple are especially famous for it.

I don't use it inless its absolutely necessary. On offshore stuff, I want he finish to penetrate thru the thread and go to the blank. With color preserver, it soaks into the thread and blocks finish from soaking into the thread, rather it goes around the thread to the blank, if it soaks in at all.

    I agree, thats UV exposure.

If you use maderia thread you need CP. If not then you don't.
