Probably not allowed to admit this on the SF board but if you look at some other boards out there plenty of honest folks got f'd by Chaos. Might want to post that info about getting money back on those boards and thanks for info.

I don't think John is paranoid about folks visiting his competiton's boards since he knows that none even come close to this one.

Boomerangrods and Reel Comprimise, well I guess we're in the same boat on this one. Unfortunately the bildge pumps don't appear to be working. I too spent quite a bit of money over the years with Chaos and established personal relationships with Adolpho and Luis. Recalling my last visit with Luis at the 2009' AC boat show and handing him $500.00 cash deposit for a pair of custom offshore rods that they built for me the previous year, well, he'd get a little different offer from me this time in the form of a physical payment. (Luis actually called me 6-weeks later and identified a $160 additional cost to complete and ship the order out. Great, my rods will be here in time for the Bluefin window.) Now we know.

Even with a Chaos ledger receipt, it's going to be a longshot on a return. I really would have preferred the matching rods. I'm joining the petition with the Fort Lauderdale courts and will see what happens.

Bob, you might be able to get a great jump start on re-establishing the business if you take over all the unfullied orders by Chaos and get payment via the court system and CC companies. You would have my initial business and then we'll let your quality and honesty prevail.

Guys, any other help with the process would be greatly appreciated.

I came across this post and I wanted to tell you my story. I order a rod from Luis Capote at ChaosFishing at the Atlantic City Boat Show on 2/6/09. He told me that it would take 6-8 weeks to come through. I patiently waited for 10 weeks before I sent him an email. He immediately called back and left me a message saying that they were in the process of moving site to Miami and said he was sorry for the delay and it should come in within 2 weeks. Well it's been 2 months from now since I heard from him. He left me his phone number and I left him multiple messages. Then after attempting for over a month, he disconnected his number. I still have the message save if that can help anyone out. I know I probably wont see my rod or money again, but I would like to see justice down.

Unfortunately my intuition on this was correct. These guys were just running from boat show to boat show knowingly STEALING cash from customers. I imagine same scheme going on with their online store until it went down about 2 weeks ago. I agree everyone involved deserves justice on this one. The guys are criminals, nothing more! I can only guess there are some vendors on the hook for some big money in this story. Unfortunately our system doesn't protect the guy that gets screwed out of a couple hundred to a couple grand, its just not worth the effort and money to get that returned. Pretty sure these guys knew that too. Karma hopefully will catch up with Louis and Adalpho and the Chaos thieves.

AS EVERYONE KNOWS CHAOS IS OUT OF BUSINESS! THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THEY OWE ME ABOUT $700(DEPOSIT TAKEN AT NYC BOAT SHOW). I CONTACTED THE BROWARD COUNTY PD AND A FEW LAWYERS I KNOW, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT PROTECTED FROM FRAUD CHARGES BECAUSE CUSTOMERS ARE NOT CREDITORS AND DO NOT FALL UNDER THE PROTECTION OF THE BANKRUPTCY. SO IF ENOUGH PEOPLE FILE FRAUD COMPLAINTS AGAINST ALFREDO CASTELLS THE PD OR DA WILL TAKE ACTION. OR TRY SENDING A LETTER TO HIM HIS HOME ADDRESS IS IN PUBLIC RECORDS BUT IF ANYONE NEEDS IT LET ME KNOW!!!
