I am trying to get the courts to stop them from taking any more orders. My attorney will contact the bankruptcy Judge and let him know about thier web site still taking orders. Anyone who has paid and not recieved thier rods let me know and I will try to let the Judge know about your claims.

    Bob,

Great idea with letting the courts know what these guys were up too. Fortunately AMEX did the right thing by me and cancelled my charge with these guys. I'm sure there are hundreds of people that got screwed over. They took my order in mid December. Problem is getting in contact with all the guys that got ripped off.

Their web site is still up and running. Unreal.

Talking Chaos Rods owner's personal info

I too got shafted as posted earlier and I bought the rods for the charity Saltwater Soldiers. I was contacted by the original owner who has been extremely kind and helpful and explained more of what these clowns have done to a company he had spent years building and doing the right things to just get destroyed by two idiots who would rather commit fraud and steal people's money rather than making them clients for repeat business and referrals. If anyone wants Adolfo's personal cell number to express their anger to him about his actions and fraud here it is. 334-791-7050 which should still be up and running unlike the cell and other contact info for him via Chaos Rods. I hope he, the other owner, and their puppet manager Luis that knew what was going on the entire time and kept taking orders at shows that he knew would never be made. There's no way for them to build rods with Aftco or Fuji components when they were in collections against chaos since November/December of 2008 yet these clowns kept doing the shows and taking orders to build the rods with these components that they knew they could not get to complete the orders. I hope they all go to jail and meet BUBBA in an intimate setting with no lubrication 10 times a day for each and every person that they scammed and stole money from. Again, I commend and thank Bob for his insight and help with this matter and hope that people don't take what the clowns did to the Chaos Rods name out on him as he tries to bring the company back under his control again if that's at all possible at this point. I for one will be more than happy to support Bob in any way I can and so will our charity Saltwater Soldiers.

    Chaos - Scammers :(

Hello my name is Todd Laker and I worked for my father Bob - founder of Chaos and Bryan - Co-owner of Chaos with Adolfo. I left Chaos about 5 years ago after a disagreement with Adolfo. Unfortunately my brother Bryan who is one of the nicest and well respected guys I know was not so lucky. Bryan left the company about 8-10 months ago asking to be bought out and it seems Adolfo did just what you have been saying. Taking peoples money with no intent to ship. It disgusts me to see people say Chaos and scammers in the same sentence because that is not what my father, brother, and I were all about. For anyone that can remember back far enough when Bob owned the company you will remember he was honest sincere and his prices were very reasonable. The fact that he has started a rod company again comes to no shock to those that know him as he has a great love of rod building and fishing. Expect great pricing and a great product when he does get back into the business again, but most of all expect honesty and 100% backing of his product.

Not sure this thread had anything to do with it, but the Chaos web site is finally down and not taking orders they are never going to deliver on. Either way its good news that they are out of the game and no longer taking advantage of consumers in this game.

Tight Lines and have a safe season,

Amex is great for things like that especially if a company strings you along. The nicve part about Amex is they give you a credit and absorb the l,oss if they can't collect. The other companies rebill you if they can't collect. It took my wife 2 months to get Visa to issue credit when Spirit airlines screwed us. Then Visa said that if Spirit decided to rebill us there was nothing they could do for us. Fortunately Spirit dropped the issue

Two thumbs up for Amex. But it wasn't easy. As I'd reported earlier when I finally got around to calling Amex to complain that Chaos had taken a deposit from me back in December, the rep I spoke with gave me the company line. 'we only investigate charges that are less then 60 days old'. I went straight to the old, 'I need to speak with a supervisor'. The supervisor listened to my story and then obviously looked up how much my company and I spend on AMEX. They were all too willing to help after that. Good news for me, but really irked me that I had to bypass the first person and sort this crap out with a supervisor. In the end I have nothing but good things to say about AMEX.
Today I got a letter in the mail.
    It reads:
This dispute has been resolved in your favor.
We have concluded that Chaos Rods has not provided sufficient information for us to properly investigate the charges and therefore have issued your account a credit for the disputed amount.
Amex goes on in the letter outlining their investigation and explaining that the 'good old' boys at Chaos did not respond to Amex's inquiry. No big surprise there.

My final word on this situation.
I 100% believe that the jokers at Chaos NEVER had any intention on making good on orders taken for the last 6 months. (I welcome anyone to tell me otherwise, IE: their order got filled). I completely believe they were running from boat show to boat show trying to dump their inventory of rods, reels, and lures, while taking deposits form unsuspecting guys like myself. Pocketing the cash and either hoping they could somehow come through down the road or just putting it in their pockets. In the end I have to believe they 100% new they weren't going to make good because the put me off the one time I actually got them on the phone, and after that never returned another email or phone call. I've said my piece on the subject. I put them in the bad guy category and bad for our sport. The fact that Choas continues to keep its website up and open is clearly proof enough to me they are scum basically looking to steal from unsuspecting honest anglers. Enough Said!

In the end I made out much better. Picking up a few Calstars and seeker rods from a top notch dealer out west. He has terrific pricing on reels, line, basically everything you need as well (way below anyone else I've found). If anyone wants to speak with him PM me and I'll send over contact info.

Tight Lines and stay safe this summer.

Todd, thanks for clearing that up. I believe I met you when you had your tent at Sunset Provisions during the MA500 a couple years ago. I have a couple Chaos rods and several lures as well and always thought them to be of excellent quality. I hope you and your family have some recourse against the scumbags that have fouled the brand name you built over the years.

I would at least be gratified if I heard that someone beat the crap out of them.

    Bankruptcy Status

I read all the post about what Chaos did to a lot of people including myself, and did a little research. It looks like there is an Involuntary Petition with the Southern District of Florida Bankruptcy Court. I talked to Visa and they basically stated that with a copy of the file (which I now have) I'll be able to get a refund. Hopefully those that did not get theirs can do the same. I hope this helps....

Probably not allowed to admit this on the SF board but if you look at some other boards out there plenty of honest folks got f'd by Chaos. Might want to post that info about getting money back on those boards and thanks for info.
