Unfortunately, the company has gone through some changes that have taken a toll on several people.
I will say that I have known Adolfo for many years. He is a great guy. He also will try and make good with everyone. I am sure it sucks to be in limbo, but in time, I believe you will get your money back.
I appreciate the response. As of now there is still ZERO reply from Chaos Rods. No returned emails, no returned calls, nothing. Adalfo might be a good guy (as the post above reports), but taking a deposit in December for building rods and not communicating with the customer is joke. Asking for more time to complete the job and then disappearing completely with the money is unethical and probably criminal. If they were having problems they should not have been taking deposits from people. At the very least there should have been contact. At the end of the day I expect to never hear from or see anything back from Chaos. At this point it is between them and American Express. I simply advise anyone and everyone to NOT deal with them. Oddly the Chaos web site is still up and running. Probably still taking orders from folks and not making good. Bad news for our hobby on every level!
A friend of mine who manages a tackle shop knows Adolpho pretty well. I'm going to see him this weekend and will ask a few questions to hopefully get some answers. Sad to say, but you're not the only person I know with similar problems with Chaos.
Gee, I think I would help myself to some rods at the next show
The owner Adolfo is generally the guy that does the shows
Good luck
Bob
My name is Robert Browning. Many of the chaos rod owners will remember me as the person who was the original owner and designer of Chaos Rods. In 2000 I sold my company to others who for several years continued with the original Idea of direct sales to the public and service to thier customers. Sorry to say with the economy down turn and problems between the two owners, the company has lost thier way in my opinion. I at this time i do not know if Chaos rods will continue in business or not. I do know that thanks to Chaos Rods defaulting on thier contract with me i have been released from my non compete contract with them and will return to business as Boomerang fishing Inc and will be at the boat shows this fall
We look forward to seeing your rods !
I also got scammed and I bought the rods for a charity. Met them at the AC boat show and ordered 6 rods through Luis their manager who said 6-8 weeks. After 9 weeks called and called and emailed and emailed and he finally called me and blamed it on Aftco for cutting their line of credit and they were solving that issue and rods would be finished in 3 weeks or so. Its now been over 20 weeks and they have sent nothing and have shut their doors...although they said they were consolidating their shops. Spoke with owner Adolfo who appologized and said he did not intend on this happening and would make the issue right for everyone who placed orders even if it takes himyears to do so. But that doesnt make it any easier to swallow when I have wounded soldiers and veterans to take on their free offshore trips out of Ocean City and I have no rods and cannot afford to buy any other rods since Im out the money. Credit Card company claims they will give conditional credit but if Chaos doean't give them the money back then the CC company will just charge my account again for the money Chaos didnt give back. Spoke with Adolfo several times and he said they are flat broke and he had to let all employees go so they will not be making any more rods. I just think its wrong to take orders for rods you cant make when you cant buy the parts to make them. After talking to Adolfo one more time he disconnected his and Luis' cell phones. Its really rediculous.I need rods and sadly cannot afford them given all the other expenses and scams in the marine industry that we have faced. Also as a start up charity the only funding we have is me and I am all in at this point. Not to be a begger but any help would be appreciated and go to a great cause. If anyone has some old offshore trolling rods or standup rods they are not using please letme know. It sucks to have reels and tackle but no rods and trips lined up in less than 3 weeks. I have found some help with rods but they don't have enough so we need to get more to make sure these soldiers and vets have the best chance to get a fish of a lifetime and to thank them for their service and sacrifices. Feel free to call me at 703 928-9513 if you prefer to speak privately and offline.
As the original owner of Chaos rods it is hard for me to read your posting. I so enjoyed building Chaos Rods from the start until I sold out in 2000. I am returning to the industry this fall and will be at the boat shows. I wanted to get back the Chaos name and build the company back to the good company it was when I sold it, but with postings like this and many others it will be hard for people to forget the poor management and remember the good product that I was so proud of. I have no legal interest in Chaos and could not continue in the fishing rod industry until my non compete clause was vacated by Adolfo and Chaos by defaulting on their debt to me. I can just hope people will not hold what Adolfo has done against me and my new company. Anyone who would like any additional information you can contact me at Gator4b6@aol.com. The new company name will be Boomerang Fishing Inc. We should have a web site up shortly.

Bob,
You've been out of it for 9 years, the times sure have changed. I wish you luck, but it will be a tough road to get the company back to what it was.
