    Cast net TLC?

Got given two older Mono cast nets.(One big one) They are not dry rotted or torn, But are very very stiff. Hard to open all the way when thrown due to center staying bunched up.(I can throw my newer net fine) Bottom of net opens up nice but 5ft up stays tight and only opens a little. Any way to rehydrate or soften up old mono? Can it be treated to save net? Like to save money if possible and not buy a new Large net. But if its pointless I will leave it alone.

    Thanks Glen

Try fabric softener Ive used it to keep them supple it may very well loosen it up. I seen that alot of the other guys on here use it as well.

One kep them out of sunlight for long perods, wash them off every trip with soap. once every few months treat them to a bath with warm water ans fabric softener for about an hour and then rinse them off.

fabric softener will help soften the mono BUT, it will also soften the thread on the lead line and on the horn. Don not keep fabric softener on it or store it in fabric softener. Rinse off well after soaking and store in a closed, dry bucket...
