    Building a Ramp

I'm well into my first rod build EVER with lots of hands-on help from Shoefish, Captkev1 and the rest of you guys. Made plenty of mistakes and learned a ton. I gotta say, I dig it. I'll post some pics when it's done. Thanks for all your help.

I had to somewhat wing it on the ramp to the grip. I basically built up a base of thread and epoxy finish layers, then lots of finish to get the final shape. While it's looking pretty good, I'm wonding if the first decent fish is going to bust it when it bends the rod to the bone.

I didn't find much info about ramp construction or performance. Any info/feedback is appreciated.

The first step was to build the epoxy ramps...

    - Brief instructions...
    1) Shape the foregrip the way you want the ramp to be
    2) Seal the ramp area of the grip with 5 minute epoxy -
Apply the epoxy, dip your gloved hand in alcohol (rubbing)
to smooth the epoxy. Let it cure.

    3) Sand the epoxy to smooth it.
    4) Wrap the epoxy section with thread.
    5) Seal with finish and continue your build

PC is hosed, or I'd find the links for you....
