What is the perfect mixture for a heavy brine?

Kosher salt, baking powder and ice...but in what proportion??

not sure of the formula but I only use baking soda on baits not of the fish. Are you brining fresh bait or meat fish?

I use baking soda and kosher salt - Not baking powder

The ratio is pretty simple - 5 Lbs of Kosher Salt to 3 Lbs of Baking soda - Just so happens to be the size of the largest containers my store carries. I Mis them in a very large zip loc bag

For brineing fresh spanish macks, I put a 10lb bag of ice in a 54 qt cooler - about 4 cups of my brine mixture, 1/2 gallon SALT Water

Mix it up well then as I catch the spanish I make sure that they are fully submerged in ice.
