    bottom fishing with braid

i am using power pro #80 pound test with about 5 to 6 feet #50 pound mono shock leader. i connect mono to braid with swivel. 8 oz. sinker placed above the swivel on braid line. i have tried the same setup with coated steel leader as well but i always have the same problem both with live bait and especially with dead bait. it seems that the braid cuts throught the water much faster than the mono or leader and then the mono or leader just helicopters aroung the braid causing a horrible mess. is there anyway to fix this? the only thing that i have found that works is to lower the line very slow to the bottom but if the wind and current are moving fast by the time my bait gets to the bottom it is no where near the fish. Please help!

I assume you are not anchored up. I would say you should try a knocker rig (grouper & snapper)or a chicken rig with dropper loops (if targeting snapper)
