Best Braid Line for Bottom Fishing??

    My first Post!!

I need some advise on the BEST braid line for bottom fishing. I've had some REAL BAD experiences with Power Pro and I don't want to use that anymore.

Can you guys share your opinions?

    Welcome to the site Juan.
I am very happy with Daiwa saltiga braid. Thin, smooth and slick. Need to be extra careful with knots. I have not used power pro since trying this braid.
    Good luck,

    SeaBiscuit,

Is there any problem with the colors? I am looking at it but wondering how stealthy it is.

None that I have noticed. We usually use 80 or 100 lb test PE line for bottom fishing. They make solid colors as well, if you prefer.

Daiwa Samurai Braid is a great choice if $$$ is not an object. Get a 1500 Y spool and share the cost with some friends.

Although most power pro I have used has held up well, it is very sharp and hard. I switched over to tufline XP and have been happy with it. Sufix makes some decent braid, but it wears out a little quicker than the others. I have had good experiences with the Daiwa Braids as well. I use 80-100lb for bottom fishing, with a 15' piece of 130lb mono shock leader on the end. Having this mono down there does two things. First, it reduces the visibility of the line around your bait, and it also gives your braided line, which has 0 stretch, a stretch factor. I have found that this greatly reduces break-offs.

I heard power pro had a bad batch of 50# a few years back. I must have gotten a spool as I lost a nice fish when I put a bit more drag on the reel and the line just came apart far shy of 50#'s and it did not fail at the knot. The line wasn't nicked and as I said it literally just came apart vs. a break.

That said most of the braid on my reels is powerpro in 30, 40, 50 and 80#. It has served well, but I plan to replace it with Daiwa boat braid on my jigging rods, likely PE-5.
