Bunker is probably the way to go. You could also try mackerel if you want to use something different.

This time of year catch some croakers or blues, the fresher the better. Cut the fish in half just behind the dorsal so all the guts are in the belly cavity but hanging out. You can also slice the tail off and use them alive. Good Luck and post up some pics, you should get some duskys, maybe a sand tiger you never know whats hanging around them piers. Good Luck

shark food
Funny how different the situation can be in other areas. Where I am there's many a day when it's an effort to get a fish to the boat because of all the sharks - and we're working shorelines...
If you ever get down to south Florida, take almost any fish you catch, butterfly it, and send it right back where you caught it if you want a shark. In the backcountry it's hard to beat fresh ladyfish, live or dead, and you almost can't get away from the ladyfish when you're fishing reds, or snook, etc. so it's easy to collect the ladies during a day working mangrove shorelines.

Women love me... fish fear me
I am guessing your after brown sharks......match the hatch.....catch what ever bait is biting on blood worms in the surf and send them out whole....surf browns love kingfish and snapper blues....it does not get any fresher than from one hook to another

I agree with Lemaymiami, in FL where I grew up and fished all my life in Tampa Bay, ladyfish with fresh cut (tail cut) spanish mack being a very close second. Anything oily up there should do, cut blufish, jack, macks, or bunker. I would reccommend starting with lighter single strand and spin gear if they are not huge sharks, have fun with it.
