    Assist hooks 1 or 2???

I've seen so many versions of butterfly jigs now on the market. Is there any prefrences on the rigging. Is one hook better then two? Also name brands? Better to spend $10-15 or does the $6-10 ones perform just as well?
Getting ready to stock up on a few so any suggestions would be helpful.

Main targets are grouper(black) AJ's and mutton snapper covering depths from 135 to about 350. Kingfish can be a pain so I try and stay deeper.
Did plenty of live baiting the area, just never any jigging. Guess I'll stick to the cheaper brands to start.

Also try some good ole "dimond jigs". Take the trebble off and put on a single assist hook. I can tell no diffrence in catching with 1 verses 2 hooks. I now stick with 1...

The next bite on a jig.
One. For two reasons, the first being safety. The second reason is that fish will sometimes try to take the jig from a hooked fish. If you have two hooks, it can cause some issues when that happens.

    Jigs

I find that using 1 assist hook works just as good as using 2 on jigs....as far as the cheap jigs vs. the expensive ones....IMHO the true Shimano Butterfly jigs will outfish any other jigs anyday....however I do also have good success with the Williamson Benthos jigs and have also caught some really nice fish on the good ole Diamond Jigs.

There are two problems with using two hooks. The first one is you can possibly send one into your hand while unhooking the other from a fish and the second one is if you are in the land of the giants you stand a chance of hooking two at one time. I have done it tons of times with my biggest ajs right at 35" each. When you hook a fish and he is shaking his head the jig is still swinging and another fish tries to take it away from the hooked fish and then you hook two.
