    Aftco Swivel roller tips??

I am working on some Planer rods and ran into a little snag. I am using the Aftco SHD Swivel roller tips and the tubes appear to be tapered inside! Does anyone know the various ID dimensions at the front wall of the inside of the tubes for various sizes?? Trying to figure out which sizes to get! I am using IGFA 80 blanks, either a 24 or 26 tip. Or should I go with the 30's or 32's and just shim them with the fiberglass mesh drywall tape?? At $55-65 each, kinda pricey to order the extra sizes!

    Taz,
The tip ferrule does have a strong taper. I usually end up taking the tip and hitting it with the belt sander to take the tip of the blank and make it a "sharper" point like you would with a pencil. I usually end up using 28's on teaser rods. So, I know it sucks, but I would get 2 different sizes and then send one back. At that price, it will save you money and only cost $5 to return them via US mail.

Try a file with some 80grit sandpaper wrapped around it ..Take it down a little at a time to get a nice fit..

what blanks I'm building five IGFA 80 with Lamiglas BT80 & Winthrop guides..dont have the blanks or guides yet but I hope its a smooth build..

I had to file the tip down to make it work on one of the blanks. This last time, I called Merrick and asked which ones fit! The 26 they said went down like 3/4 of the way, the 28 was larger and looser. I'll use drywall mesh fiberglass tape to shim and use the larger one!
