    50VSW Handle falling off reel??

I was out yesterday cranking on a yellowfin and noticed the handle getting loose on my 50 vsw. The handle ended up coming all the way off, and after taking a close look, it seems to have stripped out the threads where the handle attaches to the reel. Anyone had this problem, if so will penn cover it under warranty. I would like to think they will.

Oh yeah they will cover it. Ask them somethig for your troubles. No reel should do that.

So what happened to the fish?

Oh yeah, I have six of those reels. Only one season old, but no problems.

I called Penn and asked them if I could just have the parts sent to me because they were easy to replace. I was hoping they would send them with out much hassle,(it was $15.00 worth of parts.) however I had to send in a reciept, and they had to show it to a manager and so on. I called back the next day to check on the status and no one knew anything. I got pissed off and told the lady to send me the parts and I would just pay for them. I don't need to be dicking around with these people over $15. I need my reel fixed soon. I'm gonna give someone at penn a call and just share my feelings with them. These reels aren't cheap and it shouldn't be any questions asked when a customer needs $15 in parts to fix a problem. We did manage to get the fish in. Only because he was close when the handle came off.

cough cough the shimano would break the handle instead of falling off cough cough

To the op, I noticed this on my 1st 50vsw as well, the handle came loose a bit, just had to tighten it b4 any damage happened

Another thing I noticed its the lever drag screw. It got loose once, its amazing how fast it comes off if its not tight

I got the parts from penn for around $20 with shipping and it was not to difficult to fix. Just hope it doesn't happen again. If it does I'll be calling you All Tackle. Maybe you can deal with penn better than me.
