    3412D hook supplier?

I have been trying to find the right hooks to replace a half dozen rusty ones in some skirted cedar plugs I have. Someone told me that the Mustad 3412D needle eye hook in a size 9 or 10 would do it. Okay, that makes sense.

But I am presently in Houston, and cannot find them. Bass Pro never heard of them. One guy at Gander Mountain knew what a cedar plug was...

Meltons tackle doesn't seem to carry them on their website...

I thought I placed an order with Fishing Tackle Unlimited, and then got an email from them saying they didn't have any in stock and the order was cancelled. Shoot.

Where do you guys order these from, assuming I have the right model number? I still have time to internet order some if I get right to it.

    Gringo,

Sorry you're having trouble finding that needle eye. I'm pretty sure that Mustad discontinued them. Contact Sea Striker in Morehead City, North Carolina. They are the big cedar plug maker and I believe that they have had a replacement made, by whom I do not know. We have some of them and they are dead ringers for the originals.

Sea Striker does not sell to the public, but hopefully they can give you the name of some of their dealer customers who can then take care of you.

If you use ballyhoo you might want to give that hook a try in them. They are what I used to use because I loved the needle eye and the longer length of the hook.

Hope this helps you in your search.

    THERE IS ONLY ONE, TRUE...

They haven't been discontinued. You can get them from amongst others,

    Bass Pro online
    http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...ems#itemDetail
which has a wider range of sizes - the model 3412 is hook J in the photo; product numbers 38-493-169-26 to 38-493-169-30

    and

    Charkbait
    http://www.charkbait.com/cs/csh2.htm
    which has the 10/0 size

    best regards

    Gringo,

Check out the Mustad catalog. The needle eye is no longer in it. Seems to confirm what I have been told. I repeat, try Sea Striker. They are nice people and will do their best to help you.
