Sorry Triple Header, but I don't. It just so happens though that tonight the local surfcasters club has their monthly meeting and the topic is reel cleaning. Everyone is supposed to bring in their reels and get instructions on how to service them. Funny what we guys will do to get out of the house when we can't go fishing!

What brand of reels are they? If they're Penn you might be better off sending them back to the factory.

There are several repair guys in Nj that work for the tackle shops. You take the reels to the shop and the guy will come pick them up, fix them, and then return them.
What type of reels are you looking to get fixed? If they are shimano, I highly suggest sending them to them directly. They will replace parts that are worn and do a 100% clean up. They do great work, and the rates aren't that bad. If they are Penn's I would just take them to a shop. A good service would include having all the gears and metal parts stripped clean usually in a mineral spirits or kerosene bath, until they are shiny new, and then when they are instaled they should all have a water proof grease layer applied. If the reels are several years old I would also suggest getting the drags replaced and the plates resurfaced or replaced. Sorry I don't know anyone direct in the NJ area, But I've seen reels being dropped off at FinAtics, Penn reels at Brennan Marine right in Sommers Point, and there's a really big shop in Bordentown called Sportmans Center right off rt. 206 and 130/30?. They carry alot of real parts and have a service team on house. They have it all there Penn, Shimano, Daiwa, Accurate, Etc.

What kind of reels? The next best option to servicing them yourself, would be to send them to the manafacturer. They often will replace any parts that show wear for little or no charge. I recently sent two stella's back to shimano (they are the only reels I don't service myself), they replaced a lot of parts in one and serviced the other for a flat 25 dollar service fee.
Servicing reels yourself lets you become familiar with all the parts and if you're reel should break in the middle of the season, it's a lot quicker to get parts and fix rather then sending the reel away for repairs. |

I sent my two Penn reels serviced at the factory but I did it over the winter so I wouldn't miss any days fishing.
