PENN SENATOR UPGRADE

I HAVE PENN SENATOR 114.ANYBODY HAVE UPGRADE THIS REEL?
FOR BETTER PERFOMANCE?

You could always get some smoothie drags and put some cals reel grease on em.

I know that Accurate used to offer a conversion kit for the Senators. I don't know if they are still available. Basically you could upgrade the sideplates, and frame and drag... By the time you are done, you could have easily bought a new reel...

You could search for some Accurate stuff, or some Newell stuff. There are drags such as Smoothies, CArbontex or the new Penn HT-100's. You may also find some "power" handles to put on there from Tiburon, Accurate or Newell or Pro Gear.

Recommendation: New Drags a power handle and go fish it.

Tiburon makes frames as well This is the best upgrade to start with then the sideplates The HT100 washers are fine just grease them with the cal's grease The only other thing would be to change the dog spring from that little thing to a flat type spring This will make it easier to service The frame kit will make the reel smoother under a heavy load say 20-25# of drag The stock cross pin style will start to twist under this kind of load over time Load it with 500yds of 80 braid with a topshot should put you near 600-625 total
