I gotta say that in the last few years of US manufacturing the quality wasn't there either. I think that retooling the reel and building it in China was actually an improvement in quality. The companies that are doing good quality control and using good raw materials still make good products there. It's the ones that use junk parts and ship every reel that comes off the line that you have to watch out for

Hi...this reel has the new anti-reverse system in it. No dog...no ratchet. Has the same type of system as all spinners have now and even a 965 Baitcaster would have.They've been known to freeze up under certain weather conditions.The system needs to be treated to prevent any rust or corrosion from slowing it down.If you have any more questions,please feel free to contact me.I'm the lead service tech. here at Penn Reel Mfg.
