casting vs spinning
what is the difference in casting rod and spinning rod? I am going to Alaska fishing in July for Salmon and want to have the right equipment necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A spinning rod has bigger eyes on it and usually has a lighter action towards the tip. Spinning rods are made for the spinning reels a.k.a upsidedown reel, a.k.a. coffee grinders. I would think that I would go with a little stiffer action casting rig. I don't particularly like spinning rods and reels.

Sorry need more info to help set ya up with the best information for you to make an educated decission. Will you be fishing in the ocean with down riggers Will you be fishing in a river mouth, mooching Will you be casting from shore in a river? Do you know the name of the area you will be fishing and whats running, sockeye, silver, kings Do you plan to have the outfit in your suitcase? IE.two or three piece rod maybe? Do you plan to use the fishing pole once you get back from Alaska? It's allot of questions but if you answer um,,me and the boys can dial in what will work best for you. Ahi |
