    first day success

Hello Anglers, We found exactly what we were looking for here at the Rocks; not only a shot at a trophy tuna but a shot at a wahoo as well. Although we didn't land everything we hooked, there were some very nice fish brought aboard including three fish over the 100 pound mark. Ryan Christianson lead the way with his personal best at 106.6 pounds. Ryan fooled his fish with a chunk just 50 feet behind the boat. Chris Barth had second honors with a 104 pounder, also his personal best. Al Petrovich rounded out the top three with his tuna weighing right at the 100 pound mark. We are spending the night here and will try it all again tomorrow. Wish us luck.... JUSTIN

First Day Success -- 3 Over the Century Mark aboard the Excel

Report from the Excel, October 11, 2011

Justin Fleck called in to give us an update on the Excel, "We were at the Rocks yesterday, things didn't really shape up the way they did the day before. The tuna showed up and boiled around but they were very reluctant to bite. We hooked just a couple, landed one. Virtually no sign of Wahoo we did scratch up some Yellowtail throughout the morning but not enough to keep us out there.

We are headed for the Ridge this morning, we just started fishing and we're getting a few Wahoo strikes. Hopefully things are perking up we will check in again later."

    day 1 ridge

Hello Anglers, This is going to be a short one. We arrived at the ridge early in the AM this morning. Fishing was a bit on the slow side. We ended the day with 7 fat wahoo, and a nice mix of dorado and yellowtail. Here are a couple of pictures from today and 1 tuna picture from the day before. Justin

    Excel reports a

Justin Fleck called in to give us an update on the Excel, "The past two days down here on the Ridge and we have had very, very good fishing. Things are changing down here, changing for the better. Wahoo moving in, Dorado moving in, school sized tuna moving in. The Yellowtail fishery down here is unbelievably good. I can;t believe the amount of fish that has been around this year.

Fun, fun fishing down here, the exciting part is the big Wahoo. I can;t say enough about how big these Wahoo are. Most of them are in the 40 - 50 lb. range with some 60 and 70's mixed in. It is a real treat for these guys. I think we have about 60 of these things so far. Really, really nice Wahoo. The guys are having a blast, not to mention that the weather is flat calm down here. It is a picture perfect 10 day right now. We are going to spend one more day down here before we start working our way up. We'll try for a few more of these jumbo Wahoo. They are calling them "Super-Hoos" because they are so big. We'll check in tomorrow."

    Topped off!

Hello Anglers, Fishing here on the ridge remains outstanding for us with a nice mix of wahoo, tuna, dorado, pargo, and some huge grouper. Just after lunch, both our RSW wells were completely topped off with a great catch so we decided to head north to put ourselves in position to fish a little on the way home. Here are some pictures from our day. JUSTIN

    More Variety

Hello Anglers, We made a stop at the island today where we drifted up some halibut and lots of big bull bass. This just adds to our already impressive list of species caught on this Braid 10-day trip. Here are some pictures from the past few days to show the variety that is available this time of year.
