Excel Team Hoo 10 day trip 11-13

    Weathered the storm

Hello Anglers, We departed yesterday on our annual Team Hoo 10 day trip with a good group of friends. The weather has been a little on the unpleasant side so far with this huge storm that is passing through southern California and Baja. It looks like the majority of rain and wind is behind us for now and we hope it stays like that for a while. As for now, our plan is to start fishing tomorrow and hopefully get a few fish in the sack before we head down and try for trophies. Wish us luck....JUSTIN

    Fish in the sack

Hello Anglers, We started our trip off with excellent yellowtail fishing. We're making our way south in search of more fish. Wish us luck. Justin

Report form the Excel on the Ridge, November 15, 2011

Justin Fleck called in with this report on the Excel, "We made a tour over to the Ridge today, unfortunately the water pretty much rolled over. The whole length of the Ridge is cooler and has turned a dark green color. We didn;t catch many fish, just a few Yellowtail and a few Dorado. There was no sign of Tuna or Wahoo.

We'll be on the lower banks tomorrow. We'll see if we can get some of this big fish located. The guys are all rigged up,they have fresh leaders and top shots and everything. They'll be ready to go for tomorrow. We'll give you a report tomorrow night.

    First cow of the trip

Hello Anglers, We did the tour of the lower banks today and I have to say that things look interesting to say the least. Our morning started off with a full speed go around on quality dorado. After cleaning up, we didn't go far before seeing signs of tuna starting to move in. Although they didn't bite all that well, we did get a sample with six tuna for the afternoon. Big fish honors goes to Will Smith (not that Will Smith) with his impressive fish that went 212 pounds. Time is on our side and hopefully we can figure these tuna out before we have to head for home. Wish us luck...Justin

    All show, no go!

Hello Anglers, The same story here today, lots to look at but not quite ready. Everyone down here is in agreement that any day now this will get good. We picked up seven tuna today up to 185 pounds for our efforts. We received a hot tip about some wahoo outside Mag Bay so we are changing gears for tomorrow. Our target will be skinnies and dorado. Wish us luck....Justin

We put together a nice little count, I think we ended up with 35 big Wahoo aqnd finsihed off on our limits of Dorado. Altogether a nice day the weather has calmed down nicely, flat calm seas, no wind now. We are going to start working our way toward the Ridge.
