Fall 2008 Trout Stocking Schedule
Fall stocking commences Tuesday, October 7. Approximately 20,000 two-year old brook, brown and rainbow trout, averaging 14 -16 inches, are stocked in 16 streams and 16 ponds and lakes over a two-week period. All fish are raised at the divsion's Pequest Trout Hatchery.
Streams are stocked during the first week, and ponds and lakes are stocked during the second week. In addition to these trout, approximately 1,000 broodstock trout (three-year old rainbow trout, averaging 17 - 20 inches) are also be stocked. Broodstock trout are mixed in with each truckload of fish. The total number of fish allocated for each water is shown below.
The stocking boundaries for streams are the same as in the spring (see the current Freshwater Digest for information). There are no closed dates during the fall stocking period. Updates to the fall stocking program will be posted here as necessary.

Thursday, October 9: The first week of fall trout stocking was completed by the NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife and all streams scheduled were stocked according to plans. The second week of fall stocking commences Tuesday, October 14 and consists of 15 lakes and 1 river located in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, and Salem counties. Conditions in these waters have been assessed by biologists and all are suitable for stocking. No changes to the stocking schedule are anticipated and anglers may fish these waters immediately after they are stocked.
Friday, October 3: The first week of fall trout stocking was completed by the NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife and all streams were stocked according to the posted schedule.
The second week of fall trout stocking begins on Tuesday, October 14. Fifteen lakes and 1 river located in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, and Salem counties will be stocked with 14 inch to 20 inch trout. Biologists assessed all the water bodies scheduled to receive trout and found them all to have favorable temperature and oxygen levels for trout. No changes to the stocking schedule are anticipated and anglers may fish these waters immediately after they are stocked.
