Brazil Peacock Bass???

I have a couple of buds who are interested in going to Brazil to target Peacock Bass.

Anyone with any info to share would be greatly appreciated.

I would love to help but I've yet to catch my first peacock bass. I've only read about it in brazilian magazines and watched fishing TV shows.

A few days ago I watched a video of a few guys in the largest artificial lake of the state where I live, they caught a 15lb+ peacock bass.

I had no idea there were such big peacock bass here. The government finished building that lake in 2003. People travel to the brazilian Amazon to catch giant peacock bass and sometimes they don't find fish that big.

That video really made me want to go look for a lake and use all the brand new lures I have. I've tried to find a fishing spot at a lake once but it didn't seem safe

It's hard to go fishing when you don't have a car.

Northwest Brazil is worth a look as well Pantanal area Think of the Florida swamps,about the size errrmm half of Texas!! you have an Idea. I stayed at a place called Posda de pescing (sp), it was brand new, first clients they had caught a lot while there, fish from aluminum punts, very basic accommodation,and food but you are there to fish,
But the best peacock fishing I had was on the Xingu river in the Amozonis, gin clear water unlike a lot of "North" flowing rivers. If I can find them will post up picks in a box somewhere in the house it's a good few years ago now but not much will change.

I have fished for (and caught them) in Guri Lake, Venezuela. They are a ball to catch and good to eat and unlike any other fish I've ever fished for, they are attracted (not spooked!) by noise/vibrations!
