Fishing on a whole is still on the slow side. Reports of rip fish have come in as well as jig fish. The larger rip baits seem to be producing a few nice fish Pointers and Rapala are my first choice. I found a few of the old 18 Rapalas the other day and a few friends have tried them out and low an behold they still catch fish. Funny how we move on to the new things and forget about the fish we caught with the old school stuff. If we truly believe that fish get conditioned it might be time to go back to some of these old time favorites, just a thought. Rock piles and deep docks are the most consistent water and the 8 to 12 feet range on the outside of the dying weeds. Some fish are being caught on shaky heads and drop shots but slow down not a lot of movement. The LV bite is off and on like it has been all fall and the swim bait bite can be good when you find them, try dragging a Hud on the bottom slow.

Many of you have asked questions about places to stay, and where to eat while in Lakeport, so here are my suggestions. Lodging, I prefer Rocky Point Cottages a beautiful setting with cabins more for the individual looking for a place where they can cook and have more of a home like atmosphere. The Skylark Shores Resort has many rooms an can handle large groups and has been a destination for some time. One of my favorite places to eat is Rene's Cafe across the street from Tackle It. great comfort food and they are fishermen friendly, just tell them Ed sent you and they will take care of you like family. Remember to check out the new online store her at www.tackleit.biz.
