I am heading to Pacific Beach, right outside of San Diego to visit some friends... im heading out there with one of my regular fishing buddies and we're definitely interested is getting out on the water for at least one of the days.
I am looking for any suggestions/recommendation for charters, as well as general information on what species are prevalent that time of year, etc.
I run the 6 pack, El Gato Dos docked about 10 min. from PB. I can help with some suggestions. First, it depends when you are going to be here, if it's soon you are pretty limited to rockfish right now.
It also depends on how much you want to spend. Cheapest way to go is to jump on a 1/2 day or 3/4 day boat.
The 3/4 day run will get you into Mexico and really get into some good bottomfish. Sadly, most of our spots on this side of the border have been hit hard over the years. There's a real good chance you would be fishing around the Cornado Islands on this trip, which also makes for good siteseeing.
If you want to go overnight, there are a few trips that run down the coast fishing rockfish, and with the water still in the mid 60's there is a chance you could catch a yellowtail. Avg. cost is around $135-$175
My boat's a bit pricey for only 2 guys, but if you would want to go, I'd make you a very good deal. I'll send you a PM as well.
