Another great day on the water inshore fishing. We headed out a little after dawn with our sights set on El Morro, just a few miles past the Marietas Islands. We had our jigs rigged up and ready to go, but the fish weren't taking them. We didn't have live bait from the start, but we manage to snag some squid and sardines from commerical fishermen on their way in, and thank God because without those bait I think the day would have been a bust!
Then the action pickup! All the bottom fish we hitting hard. Everything from small to mid-szie snappers and pompano, to the wonderful rockfish. We also caught a nice size snapper, a Toro and a small needle fish on a spoon late in the day. We are now gathered around the bbq cookin up the snapper Mexican style, zarandeado!
Don't hesitate to follow your instincts and jump on a plane tomorrow, fishing is that good!
