Mazatlan Roosterfishing report
As the waters continue to in Mazatlan the rooster fishing is picking up as well ! The young ladd caught and landed this nice rooster! The all tackle IFGA world record roosterfish was 114 pounds was boated in 1960 on 30lb test line was caught in these area waters. Recently in the same area a fisherman from Washington N.J.boated a 106 pound 64inch long with a 36 inch girth roosterfish on 30lb test. The fish was caught on a popping plug called the YO-Zuri surface crusher it is to my knowledge the larget one taken on a surface plug.To me it sounds like the really big roosters are lying in the waters of Mexico not Costa Rica?

My missus has been to Mazatlan twicew in the last year and wants badly to catch a rooster. Each trip she was kind of snubbed and pushed into offshore billfishing with ok results. She still wants a rooster. When are they there? Doesn't have to be big or anything just so long as its a rooster...
