What’s hot is jig and bobber fishing for Steelhead on the Upper Columbia. Also good is trolling for Mackinaw early on the Bar and during the "bankers bite" on Lake Chelan. Additionally, The Upriver Brights are starting to bite along the Hanford Reach.
Finally there is some shore fishing available for planted rainbows at Mill Bay in Manson on Lake Chelan. The Steelhead fishing has improved. You want to attack current seams with baited jigs under slip bobbers. Try Mack’s Lures Rock Dancers or Worden’s Lil’ Corky jigs in quarter ounce. Bait them with shrimp that has been cured by Pautzke’s Fire Cure. Set those jigs from 14 to 20 feet for best success. Black with glitter has been the best jig color.
Below Priest Rapids dam, you can catch the biggest Chinook of your life. Try those Brads Super Baits in Hot Lava or Lemon Lime. When you are plotting your approach, remember you are trying to take advantage of their territorial instincts, not feeding instinct. The fishing on Lake Chelan has been great. Try T4 purple glow flatfish on the Bar early, then Silver Horde’s Kingfisher Lite spoons baited with a piece of Northern Pikeminnow during the Bankers Bite from 8AM to Noon out in the trench.
To explore the shoreline and dock areas around Manson try Worden’s Roostertails and Mack’s Lures promise keepers in the 1/6 th ounce and 1/8th ounce.
