Hello From Barra De Navidad

Hi all,

I am writing this from Barra De Navidad about 3 1/2 hours south of Puerto Vallarta, where the fishing has been good year round. Even just 3 1/2 hours south of Puerto the water here stayed pretty good temperature and kept the fish around. The year round offshore fishing includes tuna, dorado, wahoo, stiped marlin, blue marlin, black marlin and pacific sailfish. And there is great inshore fishing here with everything from pacific jacks to beautiful cubera snappers and the exotic roosterfish. Fishing in Barra De Navidad is so much fun because you are never disapointed in the fishin' or the weather. I know so many people who will go to Puerto and never make it down this far, but boy, I would suggest it to anybody and they wouldnt regret it.

cheers, and tight lines.

Welcome, and like Striper said, post some pics if you can...my girl and I are always looking for the next "off the beaten path" destination, and 3 1/2 hours south of PV sounds like it might hit the mark. Again, welcome to SFC!

haha. The area is beautiful, it is a small fishing town, only about 8000 people, maybe less . The people, fishing and food are awsome, super calm and relaxed town. I love it here..

cheers, and tight lines

A couple of questions:

How far offshore is the fishing for the tuna and dorado?

Are you fishing over seamounds, in open ocean, etc.?

Thanks,

Marty

it changes all the time it is a trip... Dorado are usally fairly close in like 5-8 miles out I would say, and last time I caught a Tuna it was about 14 miles out but as of lately I have been hearing that they have moved out closer to 30 miles and they are being found in huge schools right now.. apparently one boat caught 60 tunas the other day! rediculous no? haha. Here is more info on the offshore fishing in the area.

tight lines
