    Quote from Murray Brothers 1999:

"An Atlantic Blue Marlin IGFA World record on 50# test was caught on Capt. Don Merten's, "Double Header", in the Azores. The fish weighed 1146 lbs. and was caught on a nearly identical Murray Brothers LNG #2 Lure, as the one pictured and in their catalogue from 1999."

The LNG #2 evolved into the "Crusher" under the Compleat Angler line of lures by DeepC. The "Crusher will be re-introduced to the big game fishing world by us later this month keeping the original "Crusher" name. As you know we have allready re-introduced the "Masher", which has had a tremendous response and being sold worldwide to knowledgeable marlin fisherman who have endorsed the rebirth of this famous headshape.

They will be hand poured in the new bullet proof urethane from the original head and insert masters DeepC has granted us the rights to. Some tweeking of the insert will be done for a touch of keel weighting without compromising the overall weight and action of the original. An improved skirt shoulder will be fashioned to allow for a roll and tie.

The LNG #1 and LNG2 / "MASHER" and "CRUSHER" respectively were two of best selling lures in the world in their day. We look forward to keeping their heritage alive and a deadly 1-2 punch for your trolling spread, with the re-introduction of the "CRUSHER" later this month.

Both the "Masher" and the "Crusher" are available in our new CanyonSoft head urethane. The pic of the blue abalone "Masher" Heads the one on the left is a CanyonSoft the one on the right is a hard head.

Several of these? Bring em on.

I have almost too many large slant heads to need another one though. That said, if you want rid of the purple LNG2...

But I do want to hear Deep's take on how the Masher runs differently to the Ruckus.

I'm not sure if Patudo is trying to be a pain in the ass or is truly ignorant but when I say the run different I mean just that. The angle. height, and volume of water displaced by each is different. Then we come to cadence which is the rate it"pops" out of the water. Those are different. I have found thr rate of that to be quicker on the masher. Then we have re-entry atributes, how it moves when it comes off that "pop" . I find a wider swing before comming straight with the masher. Again different. The speeds that the masher "run" at are also different. Optimum for masher being slower.
The ruckus is a fine lure but is not the same action. The actions described above by each do not suggest one is better than another. I have a PERSONAL preference to how the masher runs but I don't profess to be anyone else.

    Patudo,

Now you'd be the mixing illusive split tail with with slant head plungers, surely that might create a noteworthy ruckus

No can do on the LNG 2, that's in my collection.

The Crusher will be coming soon tho, it has much better action than the original, IMHO.

Soon to follow behind the Crusher re-release will be the "Grander Grabber" a modified LNG 1. This is a large/teaser head.

Following that will be the "Smasher" and the "Thrasher", details to follow as they happen.

These Five Heads will make up the "Calcutta Series"

    Sizing Large to Small:

    Grander - LNG 1.00
    Masher - LNG 1.50
    Smasher - LNG 1.75
    Crusher - LNG 2.00
    Thrasher - LNG 8.00

The next series under development is the "Tournament Series". I'll fill you all in when the first two heads are ready.

    .
All these names/designs and lineage confuses me, that why I don't mess with the Blue Marlin Stuff.

What I do have to say is that's one fine ass

it's really not that confusing, actually.

One basic head shape, 5 sizes. Id prefer to "un-name" them and just deal with the head shape name and size, but then that goes against marketing 101.

The "Calcutta Series" is based on this headshape lineage of Murray LNG series > Compleat Angler (DeepC) Modifications LNG series > CanyonGear Modifications (same shape and weight) modified inserts and skirt shoulders.

The other shape pictured is certainly FINE!..

This is the head shape of the "Calcutta" series
    (pic is Masher head):

Is it ignorant to ask how exactly you think those two baits run different? You're seldom shy when asked for your insights.

The angle. height, and volume of water displaced by each is different.
Please continue educating me. What are the differences in angle, in height, volume displacement and so on. Interested folks would love to know. Thanks, DeepThought
