Fishing Report 04.27.2010
Deschutes
Temp: 51
The Lower D is competely open now to fishing up to the Pelton Dam. Flows are presently a little busty, but expect levels to keep dropping and clarity to improve. Expect most surface activity to come in the way of March Browns, Mahoganys and Caddis. Certainly, dredging a big Rubber Leg Stone with a small atractor off the back should provide some action.
Hood River
Temp: 45
Spring Chinook have arrived The Hood. Access is a bit tight becuase of the work on the dam, but anglers willing to hike could hit paydirt. The river has taken in the brunt of the winter run but chrome summer fish are starting to show their scaley little faces.
Sandy
Temp: 45
Not a bad time to be swinging the Sandy. Summers, Winters and Spring Chinook. Will a Springer eat a swung fly? Sure, but it may take a few more presentations than needed to fool a Steelhead. Depth is key here. You have got to make it easy for them, so drop it down Major Tung. Right fish at the right time...
Clackamas
Temp: 46
Clackamas is cool and collected. Well not temperature-wise, but levels have been healthy and holding steady. The swung fly feels at home here lately, willing a chomp from anadromous flesh. Springers, Summers, Winters ....
Klickitat
Closed to fishing above Fisher Hill Bridge. Open below the bridge on mondays, wednesdays, fridays and saturdays.
Lawrence Lake
Fishing well. Try small, buggy leaches on a full intermediate sink line. Caddis patterns could also do the job.
