What's hot now: Ocean fishing for seabass out of Monterey bay. Surf perch and some stripers from the beach. Stripers at San Luis and the Delta just starting to heat up for the fall bite!

Anderson Lake - Crank baits and spinner baits have been doing good on rocky banks. Try dragging a jig or drop shotting in 5-10 feet of water. Crappie are biting in deeper water at south end under a bobber with mini jig r small minnow.

Calero Lake - Bite is decent, drop shotting and carolina rigged worms has been the most successful. Frogs have been working here and there. Fish are being caught from the bank all the way down to 20 feet of water. Crappie bite has picked up again, also in deeper water under a slip bobber with mini jig. Big crappie reported.

Coyote Lake - Dragging jigs and drop shotting or wacky rigged senkos have been catching the quality fish. It's been a hit and miss, anglers fishing consisting are pulling out some nice fish. Bluegill for bank anglers has been fair using wax worm or red worms.


Chesboro - Catfish are still being caught in the evenings. Bass bite is decent near the creekside where all the bushes are submerged. Try spinner baits, buzz baits and poppers.

Uvas - Top water has had the most luck. Use buzz baits, poppers, zara spooks and small wake baits. Drop shot the backside or drag a 7-10" power worm in the deeper water.

Parkway Lake - Parkway is now stocking catfish. The bite has been decent fishing cheese bait, mackeral, chicken liver, and nightcrawlers. Fish from 1-3lbs are common, but fish up to 8lbs have been reported. Call 408-629-9111 for more information.

San Luis Reservoir/O'Neil Forebay - Both lakes are starting to heat up for stripers! Fish up to 10lbs at the forebay, and fish up to 20lbs. reported from the main lake. Lures best out there right now are rattle traps, rip baits, flukes and spooks. For bait try soaking blood or pile worms and anchovies, sardines and shad.
Delta: The fall striper bite has just began and should only get better later. Right now Franks Tract or Manazumas slough are were the reports have been. Trolling Yozuri Crystal minnows , P-Line angry eyes or predators.
Ocean - Sea bass has been coming in huge schools through Monterey Bay for the last 6-8 weeks. Fish average 30-to 50lbs. largest we've heard of 72lbs. To catch them you want fly line fresh squid. For the squid you can catch them with squid rigs before going for the sea bass.
The surf perch has been good on the beaches from Marina north to New Brighton beach, with motor oil grubs, or blood worms. A few Striper also reported.
