    Ramon and Stephen hooked 20+
The steelhead fishing on the Trinity River has been about as good as it gets the past two weeks. Andrew's clients have hooked more than ten fish each of his last three trips including one incredible day with 20+ hookups. The river is low and clear, but it's full of hungry fish right now. The fish are spread out throughout the entire system. Crowds have been light. With this many fish in the river, fishing should be very good for the rest of the month and into February. Gino and Jon start on the southern Oregon Coast this coming week. The rivers are in great shape right now. January/February is prime-time for big winter steelhead in the Gold Beach area. The Lower Sac has been temperamental. The fish are really grabby one day and then very challenging the next. We've had some great dry fly moments this past week during baetis and caddis hatches. The best nymph action has been with size 18-20 baetis patterns.

    Just around the corner...
March is prime-time on the Upper Rogue and Applegate Rivers for winter steelhead. The caddis hatch gets thick on the Lower Sac. The first part of the month is the best time of year to catch a big brown on a dry fly on the Trinity River.
April is a great month on the Lower Sac for trout. A variety of caddis and mayfly hatches usually result in a good nymph grab and good dry fly fishing. The first half of April is a good time for winter steelhead on the Upper Rogue. Trout season starts April 28th.
