3-28-10 ...... SUNDAY ...... A COOL WEEKEND! ..........

We are still waiting for the fish to pick up; SHARKS & SKATES are the catch so far this week with a 53* water temperature! ......... I don't know why, but we seem to forget that fishing is just better around EASTER and beyond! .......... Maybe we can convince all of our IRISH friends that the EMERALD ISLE ST. PATRICK'S DAY Festival needs to be pushed back at least 3 weeks! .......... Oh, well, believe it or not, it was a really nice day at the beach; cool and windy, but sunny and just beautiful! ......... We will have showers today, and Monday, but that will also signal warmer temperatures for EASTER WEEKEND (which is next week!). ........... So plan to join us next weekend; it hopefully will be a great start to an action packed 2010 FISHING SEASON! ............ We'll get you some more SPRING pics within a few days; if you notice today's pictures; we have changed the backboard for the weigh station! ......... Plan on coming down and getting a picture of your fish with the ANNIVERSARY background! ............ BLUES have been biting in the mornings for a few days now! ........ We are also seeing some SEA MULLET, BLOWFISH, BLACK DRUM, and of course the DOGFISH ...... This weekend was wrapped up in SPANISH MACKEREL and BLUEFISH, both HATTERAS BLUES and smaller bait BLUES! .......... Congratulations to WAYNE POWELL (Jacksonville, NC)--10 lb. HATTERAS BLUE ............. HUNTER JONES & HUNTER BELL (Snow Hill, NC)--9 lb. 2 oz. HATTERAS BLUE .............. MIKE HEATH & SHARON DUIGOU (E.I., NC)-- 8 lb. 9 oz. HATTERAS BLUE ........... JUSTIN CARMEN (New Bern, NC)--1 lb. 8 oz. SEA MULLET ............ CHRIS MOCK (Swansboro, NC)--1 lb. 5 oz. SEA MULLET ............ WANDA DANIELS (Princeton, NC)--11 oz. GRAY TROUT .......... and DAN RUDD (Kinston, NC) landed some nice SEA MULLET and three SHEEPSHEAD! ............ The water temperature has busted the 72* mark (thanks DR. BOGUS [ www.nciof.com ]), and it won't be long until the first KING MACKEREL will be flapping on the pier! .......... So there's plenty of action on the end right now; BLACK DRUM and SEA MULLET, with a few GRAY TROUT and SHEEPSHEAD inshore will help make this week excellent for a trip to the beach! .............. Just a reminder....... please be careful around the pluggers on the pier; there are plugs flying everywhere, and we just want everyone to stay safe! ........... The end was bubbling with activity this weekend; the BIG FISH are coming in! ......... We can't help but see an increase in fishing; the water temperature is now up to 74*! .......... We will experience gusty NE winds and a few T-storms for the next two days; the CRYSTAL COAST has not seen much rain in the past two weeks, and it looks like it's going to be another week or so again! .............. The past two days have been filled with BLUEFISH, SEA MULLET, POMPANO, SPANISH MACKEREL; SHEEPSHEAD, a few SPOTS and HATTERAS BLUES! .........
