Bayside Marine Fishing report, Santa Cruz, 9-28
Sept. 27
There were not many anglers on the water today due to wind reports. The winds are expected to die down the next few days so we should get some more reports. The inshore Rock fishing and Lingcod fishing kept the few anglers out here busy. There were a few Sea Bass caught near Pajaro and Monterey in 70-140 feet of water. We should get some fresh Squid this week. The Albacore grounds were blown out today but the warm water is pushing up towards the Weather Buoy. Anglers are going to run for Albacore on Thursday if the weather stays down.
Sept. 26
The fishing for Albacore was good today in the morning at 36'20/122'22 but the wind came up in the afternoon. The 20/20 area is about 46 miles from Santa Cruz on a 178 degree heading. The one angler I spoke to had 15-20 fish before the wind forced him to go home. The angler said the Albacore are vomiting up Squid. There are still some Sea Bass being caught at Pajaro and in Monterey. The Rock fishing was good this morning for the anglers who fished near Natural Bridges. There was some near shore wind around noon today so come early. There is a possibility the wind on the Albacore grounds may settle down Thursday.
Sept. 25
The water was flat calm today but there was a little bit of rain in the afternoon. There were good reports of Rock fish and Lingcod up the coast and near the Lighthouse. There were a few Halibut caught up the coast. The Sea Bass continue to be caught by anglers who are putting in their time. The Albacore are still being caught near the Davidson.
Sept. 24
Sorry for the delay I was at a trade show in Seattle. The bite has remained the same while I was gone with Sea Bass still being caught at Pajaro and Monterey. The Lingcod fishing was great today on the local reefs. There have been some Halibut caught up the coast. The Albacore bite was good today at 36'04/122'59. There were a few fish caught a little closer at 36'07/122'40. The Albacore scores were in the twenties. The wind was up in the morning but it did settle down through the day.
Sept. 20
The Sea Bass fishing is still going well for the anglers near Pajaro. There were some good scores of Halibut and Lingcod up the coast. I did not hear of any Albacore today. The winds are down and the weather is great come fishing!
