    Guys,

Check this footage out from last week in Kona, onboard the Northern Lights with Kevin Nakamaru and Tracy Epstein on the wire!

    Crazy

I would be running for cover. Not that there is time.happens in an instant.

What is the typical release method on big blues like that?
Once you get the tag does the leader man try to pull the hook or break off? Or do you eventually get them along side and get the hook out?

Most crews do their best to try and un-hook these blues prior to release. Safety being a primary concern, sometime's they have to cut them off as close to the hook as possibile.

It's unfortunate the fish got mutilated after the tag was placed, but these things happen. Looks like the bites been hot over there. Thanks for sharing Tracy.

Great story, too bad the fish had to find those props. At least the fish wasn't wasted. Great job guys, making the best out of a not so good situation! Nice catch none the less,!
