    A word about hookedoncostarica

Spent a couple weeks in Jaco, CR and had a wonderful time. Covered the WBS Champioship, fished with my buddy Howard on the Tunabite, walked Manuel Antonio National Park, attended a beautiful wedding a Villa Calletes.

But as the days wound down i found myself craving a local sopa de camarones or seafood(shrimp soup) but had no idea where to find the real deal not the tourist trap canned crap. I looked up Josh from Hooked on Costa Rica (hookedoncostarica here on the board). Josh got back to me within an hour and said my wife and I will pick you up in two hours. Mind you, i have never met this dude. At 7:00pm sharp Josh and Tamara showed up and we headed to a local joint whose name escapes me and we sat down for our meal. He warned me that this soup is the real deal and would take almost an hour to make. We spent the time telling stories and learning about the service Hooked on Costa Rica provide. When our meal arrived I was floored by the flavor of this authentic dish. It was everything I was looking forward too. Later josh and Tamara asked what i would like to do next. I told him the meal did me in and all I wanted was my bed. I asked about a van service to the airport and some suggestions on how to kill a couple hours between check out and the time I should leave for the airport. Josh said he would pick me up at one. At one sharp he was at the hotel with my bags in his truck and driving down the road he asked if I liked calamari. shoot, does a bear............So we hit another local seaside joint and munched on incredible calamari and exchanged more stories of our travels. Before we knew it it was time to head to San Jose. His driver met us at the resturant and took me to the airport. The rate was very fair and the driver very friendly.

When I got out of the van and headed to my plane I started thinking how easy it would have been for Josh to answer his phone and say, fish soup huh, well head to so and so resturant, thanks for calling. But that is definetly not his style and Josh has gained a friend and customer in me. Thanks for the help and culinary tour Josh. I had a blast. SEE YA ON JAN 12TH BUD!!!!!!!!!!!
