    WMO Stratagy Plan C

First of all this is absolutly killing me. Speaking of Absolutly - I've got to congratulate board member Absolutly again for his phenominal day. 3 whites and a blue with one of his anglers Scott Patey now sitting atop the leader board as top angler. Maybe after the tournament Allan will post a how-to on his circle hook rigging technique.

Anyway - Sitting on the sidelines congratulating many and second guessing others is like arm chair quarterbacking on Sunday afternoon in the fall. But I keep thinking what is the best stratagy to take for the remainder of this tournament. Lets assume we are across the board minus the release calcuttas and sitting in the middle of the pack with a white release and nothing else. What it is best way to fish on the last two days?

IMHO it would have to be break out the plugs Mary cuase we're speeding up and looking for Schmoo. Honestly, their has not been a qualifying blue brought to the scales yet, Top tuna is a 249lb big eye so all the bluefinners are sitting on their cases of butterfish crying the eh-hemmmm LUMPY BOTTOM BLUES and Orion and Terry "check please" Layton have posted up two whites that would have won 95% of the past white marlin opens.

Its not time to give up. Its just time to regroup and go after the money fish. Give Lynn at Ocean City Lures a call, raid alltackle, Sunset Provision and OC fishing Center of all the Black Barts, Legend Lures and Pakulas. Hell maybe you could even through a Squidnation Big Heavy or two out their and target The biggest baddest blue marlin swimming the canyons. Oh and BTW a big eye can't resist a big black and purple clone head at 9 nuats either. And you will be surprised as to how many whiteys you will raise doing this very same method. Go East and Go Fast. I'm just sayin

this is sort of like the professor giving the answers to a test before it happens. I agree, anyone with half a brain is trolling lures at 9. The only thing you got to worry about now is a mate calling a white...... a blue and turning it in that way. I know, sounds impossible but I heard of it being done.

    Plan A, B, C?

Bill, my plan on Sunday was to pull a spread that I knew would catch billfish, the same spread that has caught billfish for me for years.

Yes I agree with everyone that there most likely will not be another grander or a 95 pound white, BUT if you would have asked these same internet superheroes on monday morning what it would take to win this tourney, or if they thought that a 94 pound white and a grander blue would be on the board..... Also, these same people would have told you that somebody dunking butterfish would clean up in the tuna category with a bluefin.

FWIW, I know for a fact that the Shadowfax caught their Bigeye on a dink bait on the flat line. Part of a double header on the flats, over top of the dredges while white marlin fishing.

i will go out there tomorrow with 5 dinks, 2 plugs, a double dredge and a couple of chains and do my thing. And who knows, maybe the new state record white will find my stuff.... Maybe a 1200 plusser will pile on one of the plugs. Who knows.... Thats why we do this.

It ain't over til 3:30 tomorrow afternoon, of course it really ain't over til the polygraphs are done, but you know what I mean.

Good luck everybody with fishing time left.

I would save the fuel and go party with ORION boys!! hehe

Just kidding.. but i would really be looking for some big tuna, some big blues, and some big wahoo!!!

Got to go where the money is ad but even a blue marling over 500lbs is going to make money!

Having watched from the sidelines (always) in past years it seems lots can change on the last day of fishing and more often then not does. However, those leading numbers are hard to beat. Possibly, you could see a change in the whitey catagory (there's a #97-#100+ white out there somewhere) but the tuna and the blue are pretty safe IMO. The last day is always the best! Good luck to you all!

Second place is wide open for the blue marlin and certainly doable for the white. 93.5 and 1062 are pretty much locks though. But it's a big ocean and big fish are out there.

Well, there's always the hope of swinging for the fences in hopes of a home run (second place blue, second place white unless very, very lucky) or you could fish for the money--in this case, a 38-pound dolphin stands to win $30K and a 43-pound wahoo takes home $56K. For almost $90K I think I would at least spend part of the day high-speeding around with some of Ace's finest wahoo hardware. The rest of the time I'd probably be dink fishing for whites and dolphin but I'd most likely still have a planer rod down for a 'hoo, knowing that a decent one pays for the tournament...

the one key to that is your crew having entered the meatfish dailies and what not- my crew is only in the billfish and tuna only stuff.

Not quite sure why they did it that way, but hey its their money.
