He makes a very very good point...Is chum a teaser? If so, then squid painted on the bottom of the boat DEFINATLEY is a teaser...Way too many grey areas in the rules in a tournament that already allows way too many ways to catch fish let alone way too many species of fish are eligable...
Make it a tuna and marlin trolling only tournament and you won't have these problems
Since the squid on the bottom paint stuff came into play here with the rule clarifications.. Isnt there a few boat brands or makes that are not allowed to be used for IGFA fishing?
I thought years ago i remember something about strikers being aluminum and the ping off the bottom or whatever been an "unfair advantage" to the fish..
I the circle rule is just as much crap as the spreader bar rule.. If a fish is going to pile on something hard then it doesnt matter if it is a wide ranger, spreader bar, horse, spanish mackeral, or a damn dink!! thats just my opinion.
Anyone know any truth to the boat restriction situation? just something i heard several years ago!
Thats a pretty big jump from chum being a teaser to squids on a boat bottom being a teaser. Chum is bait hands down no question. The painted squids may be questionable but thats pushing it a bit, its just paint on the hull your not putting an attractant in the water. I think the issue here is wether your putting anything other than the boat in the water to attract fish.
I think this is grounds for a disqualification, the rule is no fishing before 8:30am throwing chum in the water prior to that time is considered fishing. As far as squids on the bottom of a boat, that is I believe a mute point. The boat in general is a fish attractant, fish rising to the surface to see what is going on. It can also be argued that the squid painted doesn't do anything, where it can not be argued that chum doesn't attract fish.
CHUM IS A TEASER. It is an object attached to the boat! So is a teaser. Whats the difference? They both attract fish, and both are attached to the boat by a nylon/mono cord. It is that simple. If the chum went in before 8:30... they cheated. Its as simple as that. There is NO argument here... None.
To me teasers are a fish attractant that could put a money fish in your spread ready for a hook bait therefore illegal before lines in. Chum serves the same purpose
FALSE ALARM!!! The angler now states that it in fact WAS 8:30 when they put chum in the water...Shame on you, Pino, for starting all this ruckus...
