    WMO Entry

Just curious, how many teams wait as long as possible on Sunday before entering to see how many boats are entered, what the weather is going to look like for the week, etc? Also, does the weather forecast play a role in how many calcuttas your team enters?

Yes, we do wait until Sunday afternoon typically. It meant more from a weather perspective when we were fishing the Grady...I guess not as much now. I could care less how many or how few enter. In the past we did base some of our calcutta decissions on weather, what and where the bight was, condition of boat and equipment, etc.

We also base our decissions on our ability and confidence at the time. We're not a professional crew, so some of those bets are sucker bets for us....ie the Release Calcutta...I seriously doubt we could ever compete seriously with a Billfisher, Sea Toy, Phat Mann, Toplesss, etc., etc. head-to-head on releases...but I can get lucky and run over the right "one". Not to say I have a bad crew either...I'd put my guys up against anyone from a hooking and catching standpoint. I'm just saying the real good professional boats do all the little stuff right, which gets them more bights and therefore more fish. A great day for us would be two or three fish...a great day for them is fifteen fish...big difference.
