Team Canada Rocks!
what are you typically wiring. billfish, tunas?
Paleagic had some nice gloves that I have tried before. Welders gloves are very good as well.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
The welding gloves are a little bit bulky and over kill for the average person to use. I can see if you're on a charter boat or on very large fish. But most people in the mid atlantic use wind on leaders and short leaders to the hook. Your drags are set at 8-13 lbs maybe 18lbs on the 50's. The leaders are 60-100lbs worst case scenario break that sh!t off. You could buy a pair of mechanic gloves at home depot and be fine 95% of the time.

If you're in the market for a set of pro gloves, as used by the heavy tackle mob in places like the Cape Verdes, Madeira, Kona and the Barrier Reef, drop Capt Marty Bates a line - he's just started making a fresh batch of his quietly secret gloves that a lot of the top boys use, including Charles Perry.

What about?
What about the plain old orange gloves and the white cotton glove for blue marlins??
First off you should not be wrapping on tunas...What I learned to do was lean over with my arm next to the line (with a long sleeve shirt on) and go around the line twice in a counter clockwise rotation, have the angler reel to your elbow then lift and unwind your arm move down a foot and do it again. If the fish runs you swing your arm and your free. And I never have to wear gloves so the time it takes to put them on and take them off is timeI can spend rerigging short bites or anything else.
White marlins and dolphin i'll go with the orange gloves. You gotta be able to feel the fish if you can't you have no idea how much pressure your putting on the leader and will pop them off.
Blue marlins I use a pair I made. The first glove is a light stick welding with no insulation cut off at the wrist. Then I took a pair of calcutta white cotton gloves and cut them about 3/4" above the knuckle, what that does is makes the glove tight about the base of your fingers. Then I finished by stiching the 2 gloves together around the cuff. I have used these gloves in NC, St. Thomas, and Panama on fish on blues and blacks over 800lbs and they are just right.
But the most important thing is being able to feel the fish to figure out his next move.
I'll take a picture of the gloves tomorrow on the boat, its kinda tough to explain.
